Doncaster to Arundel or Bognor Regis
Departs – Saturday 05 October 2019
From Doncaster, Retford, Newark, Grantham, Peterborough, Huntingdon and St Neots.
After departing Doncaster we travel via the East Coast Main Line en route to London. We leave the main line just before Kings Cross and take the High Level route around the capital. This gives us the opportunity to enjoy views rarely seen from main line trains, as we make our way south across the Thames and through the rolling countryside of the South Downs to Arundel and Bognor Regis. You can leave the train at either Arundel or Bognor giving you a choice of destination. If you decide to leave the train at Arundel you will be just a ten minute stroll from the town and its impressive castle. The town has a lovely setting on the River Arun and the half timbered buildings and castle walls make a lovely backdrop as you approach from the station. The town is sited on a hill across the river and the narrow streets host a number of antique and curio shops plus the usual cafes and restaurants.
Staying on board the train to our final destination sees us all the way to the traditional South Coast resort of Bognor Regis. We expect to break for two to three hours giving time for a walk along the promenade and lunch in one of the cafes, bars or restaurants in the town centre or on the sea front.
After our break we retrace our steps north arriving back into home stations mid to late evening.
