The Settle Carlisle and Tyne Valley Pullman

Scarborough to Appleby
Departs – Saturday 14 April 2018

From Scarborough, Seamer, Filey, Hunmanby, Bridlington, Driffield, Beverley, Cottingham and Brough.

Join us for a delightful scenic circular tour to enjoy the rugged Dales scenery of the Settle Carlisle route combined with the rolling hills of the Tyne Valley in Northumberland.

Our outward route takes us along the East Coast Main Line towards Newcastle from where we turn west for a scenic journey through Blaydon, Prudhoe, Hexham and Haltwhistle to Carlisle. After enjoying views across the River Tyne and catching glimpses of Hadrians Wall our train reverses in Carlisle Station and we head along the first section of the Settle – Carlisle Railway through the Eden Valley to Appleby.

The station in Appleby is situated atop a steep hill and may not be suitable for passengers with limited mobility. We expect a break during the afternoon of around three hours in Appleby, which is a pretty market town standing in a loop of the River Eden. Appleby has an attractive market square with a selection of cafes, bars and pubs, pretty riverside walks and a Castle overlooking the scene. After our break we continue south along the Settle-Carlisle Line taking in views along Dentdale before crossing the famous Ribblehead Viaduct, continuing on through Settle and Skipton before heading east to home stations.

We expect to depart Scarborough around 0600 (Beverley around 0730) and after our break in Appleby expect to arrive back into Beverley around 1940 and Scarborough around 2100.

Due to pathing problems with Network Rail, we have had to change the destination from Carlisle to Appleby, as we are unable to stop in Carlisle. All other aspects of the trip are the same as well as all pick-up points.

Pullman Dining includes a full English Settle to Carlisle Linebreakfast with complimentary Bucks Fizz and a light lunch or elevenses, depending on finalised timings, on the outward journey. Champagne and canapés followed by a delicious four course dinner accompanied by a half bottle of wine will be served on the return leg.

Pullman First Class passengers will be served a breakfast bap followed by a selection of Tulip muffins on the outward journey and a savoury refreshment box followed by the cake of the day on the return journey. To accompany this, there will be a complimentary service of tea and coffee for both legs of the journey.

Standard and First Class passengers have access to a buffet for the purchase of light refreshments.

First Class, Pullman First Class and Pullman Dining passengers can book a private table for a supplement of £20.00 per person.
