We are pleased to present a relaxing long weekend break to Cornwall the land of myths and legends on board “The Statesman” land cruise train, with its rugged coastlines and quaint fishing villages you will savour some of the most unspoilt countryside in Britain with milder temperatures warmed by the Gulf Stream spring arrives early and flourishes – Accommodation for two nights will be in en-suite rooms at quality 3 star hotels in the pretty fishing town of St Ives or maritime Falmouth.

Friday: Our train travels south through beautiful Somerset before passing historic Exeter with spectacular views across the River Exe as we dash through cuttings of red rock and around the sea wall at Dawlish prior to climbing the Devon banks with views of Dartmoor, then into Cornwall over Brunel’s famous Royal Albert bridge. Guests in standard & first class will leave the train at Truro for a road coach connection to their hotels in Falmouth, whilst guests in Premier and Pullman will continue around Mounts Bay to the seafaring town of Penzance for an arrival around 18:00 and coach connections to the hotel in St Ives.

Saturday: Following breakfast the day is yours at leisure to enjoy your chosen resort, or, select one of the following optional excursions which should be booked at the same time as the main tour as seats are limited:

The Scillonian

A full day tour as we sail from Penzance on the “Scillonian III” to the beautiful and unspoilt Isles of Scilly – with its exotic plants, ancient cairns, crumbling castles, sparkling white sands and an azure sea. Upon arrival in St Mary’s there will be around 4 hours for exploration at your leisure or perhaps take a small launch (payable locally) for the 20 minute crossing to beautiful Tresco with its famous sub-tropical Abbey gardens.

Cornish Gardens

A road coach tour to two of the most spectacular garden experiences – Trebah is a sub-tropical paradise with a stunning coastal backdrop a result of 175 years of creation and in the spring it comes alive with a colourful array of rhododendrons, magnolias and camellias. We continue by coach to the amazing Trelissick Estate with glorious gardens and summerhouses enjoying panoramic views over the Fal estuary.

Lands’ End

A circular tour by road coach through beautiful Marazion with views of St Michaels Mount to Land’s End one of Britain’s best loved landmarks, famous for its dramatic location and stunning scenery with the unique signpost, cafes, and cliff top paths to explore. We return through Sennon Cove with its expansive golden beach and tiny harbour, then along the cliff top road with spectacular coastal views passing the unspoilt hamlet of Zennor with an arrival back at your hotel mid afternoon.

Sunday: We depart from Penzance late morning, calling at Truro for guests from Falmouth. The return journey retraces the route through Cornwall and around the beautiful Devon Riviera Coast but with the addition of the scenic route beside the River Severn and through Chepstow.

Pullman Class:

Accommodation will be in the 3 star “Tregenna Castle Hotel” standing within its own magnificent estate overlooking the historic fishing port of St Ives. Breakfast and dinner is included, with entertainment on Saturday evening. The meal service on board the train is accompanied with bucks fizz served with breakfast, canap├ęs, chilled champagne and quarter bottle of house wine served with luncheon.

Premier Class:

Accommodation will be in the 3 star “Tregenna Castle Hotel” overlooking the historic fishing port of St Ives. Breakfast and dinner is included, with entertainment on Saturday evening.

First Class:

Accommodation will be in the splendid 3 star “Falmouth Hotel” overlooking Falmouth Bay and Castle Beach. Breakfast and dinner is included.

Standard Class:

Accommodation will be in the 3 star “Falmouth Hotel”. Breakfast and dinner is included.

Buffet Bar:

A Buffet will be available on the train for guests in Standard & First class for the sale of hot & cold beverages, sandwiches & alcoholic drinks.

On Train Meals: (Premier and Pullman only)

Fri – Full English breakfast and three course Luncheon.

Sun – Three course Luncheon and Afternoon Tea.

Guests joining the train at stations marked * should note they will be served tea/coffee & pastries instead of breakfast on the outward journey.
