SETTLE CARLISLE - THE TYNE VALLEY
The Settle Carlisle is well known for its stunning scenery and combining the route with the
Tyne Valley offers a lovely circular route with plenty of interest all the way round. Our
specially chartered train which consists of standard, first and Dining coaches will depart
from Lincoln around 0630 (Sheffield around 0815 and Normanton around 0945).
After leaving Normanton we head north through Leeds and on to Settle where we join England's
most famous railway - the Settle to Carlisle. Our engine will have to work hard over the stiff
gradients as we enjoy magnificent views across the tumbling streams and rugged mountain
scenery of the Yorkshire Dales and Eden Valley from the comfort of our reserved seats.
After a break in Carlisle of around two to three hours we return along the Tyne Valley, with
its rolling scenery and views of Hadrians Wall.
Turning south onto the East Coast Main Line we head for home arriving Normanton around 1925 (Sheffield approx 2055 and Lincoln approx 2240). Passengers who book Dining will be served a full cooked breakfast, elevenses and four course evening meal to their reserved seats. The train will convey a buffet for the purchase of light refreshments in standard and first class.
Update - Due to pathing problems the train can no longer call at Elsecar, Barnsley, Wakefield or Normanton.
