2010 is the 27th year of the return of steam trains to Mallaig. From the start in 1984 when British Rail reintroduced steam to the line it was known as ‘The West Highlander’ which later became ‘The Lochaber’.
West Coast Railways took over the running of this service in 1995 and it was given the much loved title ‘The Jacobite’. It continues to be an essential part of every West Highland holiday. Click here for all the details you need and online booking.

West Coast Railways operate a number of one-off railtours throughout the season in conjunction with a partner company, Railtourer, and other organisations. Full details will be available soon but below you will find a description of the planned routes and dates for 2010.

West Coast Railways will operate a very special steam hauled charter train from Lancaster to York. All profits will be dontated to Help For Heroes (Charity No 1120920). Only a few tickets remaining! Please call for information and booking.
The Lune Rivers Trust will, once agan, be running a steam hauled day trip in September. Full details will follow soon.
Throughout the summer our business partner, Statesman Rail Company, operate a weekly steam hauled service to Carlisle via the famous Settle & Carlisle railway. Full details will be available soon.

Within its workshop facilities CRRES can provide:

• Programmed maintenance of locomotives and rolling stock
• Restoration services
• Joinery and other craftsmen services
• Full or partial repaints refits
CRRES employs a labour force skilled to a level now rare in this country, particularly in the field of steam locomotive restoration.
