Travel by steam in traditional carriages across Yorkshires beautiful countryside. Leaving York in the morning collecting passengers on a circular route calling at Normanton, Wakefield Kirkgate, Wakefield Westgate, Woodlesford, Castleford arriving in York then on to Scarborough. You may choose to spend the day in York or extend your journey to Scarborough returning early evening.

This is your chance to travel on the 'Hogwarts Express'. West Coast Railways, operators of the Scarborough Spa Express provide the actual Steam Train and carriages for the Hogwarts Express, as seen in the Harry Potter Movies. The 'Hogwarts Express' (No 5972) will be the main locomotive used on the Scarborough Spa Express trip for the 2010 season.
Every effort will be made to use the actual steam engine know as the 'Hogwarts Express' for this journey. However West Coast Railways also reserves the right to use alternative engines when necessary during the season. The alternative engines will be displayed on the loco & cariages pages.
The Scaborough Spa Express has many options available with the choice of either York or Scarborough as your destination.
York is a place of contrasts, a medieval walled city with the ancient shops of the 'Shambles', the magnificent Minster, historic churches, intriguing museums and offering the best of modern shopping. In fact something for everyone!
If York is the northern heritage capital of England, Scarborough surely offers the best in British seaside entertainment.
Wide sandy beaches, popular attractions, a ruined castle, a miniature railway and some fine seafront walks offer a great day out for every member of the family.
Whichever destination you choose, once you have alighted from the 'Scarborough Spa Express' at either York or Scarborough you can be assured of some of Britain's finest holiday attractions and entertainment. You will have also enjoyed a thrilling means of transport that's a great experience for both young and old - and don't forget to say "Hello!" to the driver!
